Van Rouge - out side catering

Catering for weddings, festivals, films and productions on location, corporate functions and private celebrations, our vintage citeron 'h' vans are a charming addition to any event. We have restored these beautiful Paris fire engines and converted their interiors to modern catering wagons which can be flexible and efficient where ever we go in the West Country.

Where our food comes from.

We strive to grow and produce most of the ingredients we use in our catering. Most meat including pork, beef, goat, venison and chicken, vegetables, herbs, salad and fruit including blueberries as well as eggs are from our organic Devon hill farm (see farm produce drop down). Anything else we use is locally grown or produced and is always ethically farmed and fair trade. We are members of Slow Food Devon - part of the international Slow Food Movement which promotes ethical food production and healthy eating.

What we serve

Seasonal, wholesome food all hand made in our Devon farm kitchen or our field kitchen on location. Our imaginative menus are flexible, weather dependant and designed to suit the occasion and your budget. Our love of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Thai food along with modern and traditional recipes from the UK and Ireland are reflected in the food we love to cook.

Food for all seasons

Hearty soups, venison or beef stews and goat or mutton curries when it's cold and wet on the Moor. French style buffet lunches with chrisp salads and fresh cold beef, local smoked salmon and Brixham crab for spring weddings. All day English and Continental breakfasts with our own home cured bacon, hand made sausages, fluffy herb omlettes and freshly baked and filled croissants for hungry festival goers.

Easy-to-eat canapes and finger buffets for corporate events. Our own hand made natural ice cream, (see farm produce drop down) cakes, bakes, flapjacks, fruity muffins, crunchy cookies and fresh fruit cordials are always a favourite at summer childrens events. Lasagnes, mousakas, gormet burgers and spicey meat balls with chilli and tomato sauce with piles of salads and trays of gooy chocolate brownies for hard working production crews. Our Middle Eastern falafels and tahini bulgar wheat burgers are a big hit with vegetarians at any time of the year.

Commitment to the environment

All the plates, cups and cuttlery we use is completely bio-degradable and compostable - and we use as little wrapping as possible. Our food is mainly grown and produced on our farm and thus travels minimal food miles. We strive to cook as much as possible on solid fuel from the coppiced hazel wood on our farm.
